Open Web Steward Community Edition
A local-first, provider-free workbench for creating or repairing one product landing page from controlled facts while preserving human final authority.
Open Web Steward does not ask a model to invent a website and trust the result. It gives the model a bounded teaching capsule, quarantines its returned HTML, checks the exact candidate against native web rules, shows a defensive inert preview, and records the human decision and any authorized repair.

The problem is not merely generating HTML
A landing page can look polished while carrying the wrong release status, invented claims, unsafe active content, hidden overflow, inaccessible controls, or links that do not match the controlled facts. Open Web Steward treats generation as only one untrusted step inside a governed review loop.
Give the model a bounded task
The workbench generates a Micro capsule for a small model or a Standard capsule for an ordinary model, then appends exact facts, platform rules, and the required output contract.
Treat returned HTML as a candidate
The model output remains untrusted. The original bytes are identified exactly and are not inserted directly into the host workbench DOM.
Keep consequential authority human
APPROVE, HOLD, REJECT, and REQUEST_REPAIR are distinct human postures. Only REQUEST_REPAIR creates one bounded repair packet for one direct successor.
One numbered path from facts to evidence
Normal use is designed to require no terminal, account, activation, provider integration, or repository knowledge.
- Load controlled inputs. Use the included reference fixture or load a release-facts record, site brief, and product theme.
- Generate a teaching capsule. Choose Micro or Standard according to the separately selected model's context and capability.
- Use the model outside the workbench. Copy the capsule into the model you choose. That external transfer follows the model provider's privacy terms.
- Paste only the returned HTML. The candidate must contain one bounded product article and one scoped style element.
- Run native checks. Read PASS, WARN, FAIL, NOT_APPLICABLE, and NOT_EXECUTED as separate states.
- Inspect the inert preview. The restricted preview is a review aid, not proof that arbitrary HTML is safe.
- Record a human decision. Approve only within the declared local review scope, hold, reject, or request one bounded repair.
- Export the evidence. Preserve candidate identity, findings, decisions, lineage, receipts, and any successor replay in a deterministic run package.
What the deterministic lane checks
The validator protects a deliberately narrow active surface. It does not claim to be a complete browser-security system or a substitute for human review.
Source fidelity
- Exact product name, version, status, license posture, limitations, and controlled destinations.
- Bounded rejection of conflicting release, production, certification, deployment, and authority claims.
- Exact UTF-8 candidate identity without Unicode normalization.
Contained web surface
- Exactly one top-level
article.uvlm-ows-productand one top-levelstyle. - No scripts, forms, event handlers, remote resources, overlays, masks, interaction suppression, or root-escaping selectors.
- Scoped CSS, descriptive links, visible status, focus indicators, target-size and contrast indicators, and narrow-layout checks.
Status discipline. A passing automated rule means only that the named check passed for the exact candidate and validator version. It does not turn unexecuted human or browser lanes green.

Hosted-byte verification is still pending. The eight Squarespace URLs supplied by Thomas are embedded in these pages, but this build environment could not retrieve and rehash the live hosted files. Compare the public download with the exact value above before relying on it.
Start locally in five minutes
The ordinary route is intentionally small.
- Preserve and verify the downloaded ZIP. Keep the original archive unchanged.
- Extract it to a normal local folder. Do not run the workbench from inside the compressed archive.
- Open
workbench/web_steward_workbench.html. Press Load the included reference fixture, generate a Standard capsule, paste an included good or bad example, and validate it.
Scope and claim ceiling
This Alpha keeps a narrow promise: teach and evaluate one bounded product landing-page candidate from controlled facts.
It does
- Run locally without an application network call or persistent browser storage.
- Preserve exact candidate, finding, decision, repair, lineage, telemetry, and receipt evidence.
- Fail closed on the defined active surface and preserve human review requirements.
It does not
- Call, host, rank, train, or certify a model.
- Publish a page, write memory, or transfer authority.
- Certify WCAG conformance, security, law, content truth, SEO ranking, CMS behavior, or production readiness.
Support, corrections, and voluntary giving
Report reproducible defects, documentation errors, accessibility barriers, or security concerns with the exact source SHA-256 and clear steps. Do not email passwords, private keys, or sensitive files. Donations are optional and never affect access, review results, or governance decisions.
